Sufjan Stevens

Sufjan Stevens talks to NYMag about the final show on the Age Of Adz Tour and how Justin Bieber, Beyonce and Michael Jackson are somewhat of a mantra for his stage presence and dance moves.

My heart is throbbing and I am hurting thinking about how I am not going to be in NY on August 2nd or 3rd to see this final show. Age Of Adz is too good.

“What would Beyonce do?”

A documentary film by Kaleo La Belle (52min/unreleased)
with Marzuki and Sufjan Stevens

In 2006 a filmmaker named Kaleo La Belle took a road trip from New York to Michigan with his childhood pal, Sufjan Stevens. Kaleo documented this trip of Sufjan and his brother (who is, yes, named “Marzuki”), as they ventured to reconnect with their father,  whom they hadn’t seen in years.

Want to know what happens next? So do I. Unfortunately, we may never know. The movie has remained unreleased until this very day. All we have this kind-of-trailer and wishful thinking that Kaleo La Belle gives us the full scope on this short-film, along with some-more Sufjan-eye-candy-footage.

What song did you obsess over most in 2010 ?

Sufjan Stevens - ‘I Walked’
This is one of those songs that no matter how much you love it and how much you want to sing along - the average person just can’t pull it off. I guess that is part of what makes it special. Don’t believe me - you trying hitting the notes at 2:11-2:13. I love this song so much … it is intense, emotional, electronically impulsive and beautiful.

Sufjan Stevens - ‘Chicago’ (Multiple Personality Disorder version) appears on the album Avalanche

I was in love with the place

In my mind, In my mind

I made a lot of mistakes

In my mind, In my mind
